Started at 35. You can too.

I picked up modeling at 35 — long after most people think the door has closed. No connections. No agency interest. No idea what I was doing. I figured it out by running the streets — driving to sets, meeting photographers, learning the language.

~90% of every booking I've had — across editorial, campaign, couples, fitness, film, and runway — came from Facebook Groups and the web. Not agents. Not casting calls. Not connections. A repeatable system I built one handshake at a time.

Eight years in, with a Netflix credit and a national cover, I'm distilling it into 8 chapters anyone — at any age — can run.
Inside Chapter 1

What you'll actually learn.

Concrete. No theory. Every concept maps to something you can do today. Here's the breakdown:

01
The 6 Types of Modeling
Commercial, fashion/editorial, fitness, lifestyle, promotional, background/film acting — and which ones actually pay beginners.
02
Industry Vocabulary
TFP. Comp Card. Call Sheet. Day Rate. Usage Rights. Model Release. The 8 terms you have to know before you ever set foot on a set.
03
Where Real Work Lives
~90% of every booking I've had came from Facebook Groups and the web. Not agents. The exact platforms — and how to find them.
04
The Real Definition of Modeling
It's not about looking good. It's about being useful to a brand. Once you flip this, everything changes.
05
The 5 Myths That Stop Beginners
Height. Agency. Photos. Age. Looks. Each one — and why none of them are why people don't book.
06
Real Rate Ranges
$75–$150/hr freelance. $300–$1,500/day commercial. Plus the usage rights tiers and the red flags that get beginners burned.
07
The Non-Negotiables
Work ethic. Reliability. Direction. Fitness. The 5 things every working photographer rebooks for — and the 5 reasons people don't get rebooked.
08
Your First Real Assignment
A specific action you'll take by the end of Chapter 1. 3 photos, one strong image, find 3 Facebook Groups, observe for one week. Concrete.

This is for you if...

This is for you

  • You want to start modeling but don't know where to begin
  • You've Googled "how to become a model" and gotten nowhere
  • You don't have an agency, connections, or a portfolio
  • You're past the agency-only mindset and ready to build it yourself
  • You can spend $10 on an investment that pays back the first time you book
  • You're willing to do the work — drive to sets, follow up, show up

This is NOT for you

  • You want a "get signed by a top agency in 30 days" hack
  • You think paying for a course replaces doing the work
  • You're looking for a get-rich-quick play in modeling
  • You expect overnight bookings without portfolio or follow-up
  • You're already booking consistently and don't need a foundation
  • You think a $10 product is worth less than a $1,000 product

I'm Gary D. Whatley. 43, almost 44. I started modeling at 35 — Casa Grande, Arizona, small town, no agency, nobody telling a guy in his thirties this was still on the table. I drove to sets. Met photographers. Learned the language. ~90% of every booking I've had came from Facebook Groups and the web.

Eight years later: a Netflix credit, a national magazine cover, campaigns with Walt Disney Concert Hall and Shadow Mountain Resort. I built it twice — once in Arizona, again in New Mexico after a 2023 move.

If you're a construction worker, a realtor, an accountant, or any guy who thinks the door has closed — this course is the proof you're wrong, and the system to fix it.

What exactly do I get for $10?
A 20-slide PDF guide covering the foundation of freelance modeling, a private narrated video lesson where I walk you through every concept personally, and the bonus Quick Reference Sheet (industry terms, platforms, red flags). All instant download via Gumroad. Yours forever.
Why only $10? Is it any good?
$10 is intentional. Low enough that anyone serious can afford it. High enough that it filters out tire-kickers. The price isn't the value — the system is. People who do the work in Chapter 1 get more out of $10 than people who buy a $500 course and never open it.
Do I need to be tall / signed / pretty / experienced?
No. Chapter 1 includes a full breakdown of the 5 myths that stop beginners — height, agency, photos, age, looks — and why none of them are why people don't book. The model who works is the model who shows up.
I don't live in NYC / LA. Does this still work?
I built my career in Arizona and rebuilt it in New Mexico. ~90% of my bookings came from Facebook Groups and the web — methods that work in any market with a population. The course teaches you how to find work where you already live, then how to scale to bigger markets when you're ready.
Is this for men or women?
Both. The system is the same regardless of gender. Industry vocab, where work lives, how to build a portfolio, how to follow up — none of it is gender-specific. Chapter 1 works for anyone serious about freelance modeling.
What's the difference between Chapter 1 and the full course?
Chapter 1 is the foundation — vocabulary, mindset, where work lives, your first assignment. The full 8-chapter course covers portfolio building, profiles, the Core Method (how I actually walk into rooms), shoot day mastery, follow-up, social media, and scaling to new markets. Chapter 1 buyers get early access + a launch discount on the full course.
What if Chapter 1 doesn't change anything for me?
Email me at arizonadouble@gmail.com and I'll refund the $10. No paperwork, no friction. The goal is to teach the system to people who'll actually use it — if that's not you, I don't want your $10.
When does the full course launch?
Building it now. Chapter 1 buyers and waitlist members get first access + a launch discount. The waitlist is capped at 100 spots — this is intentional. I want a small first wave I can support directly.

Start with Chapter 1.

Ten bucks. A 20-slide deck, a private video lesson, and the reference sheet that anchors the rest of the system.
